Work is continuing on our new web server but it is going slower than we had
hoped. We are developing our own content management system in order to
facilitate the advanced features that integration with the NHQ CAP database
makes possible. This process involves a lot of effort and we are moving
forward as fast as we can but it will be some time before it is ready to go
live. I have stopped making estimates of the release date but I feel we are
close to a preliminary release and I will announce the happy event when we
are sure we are ready.I have updated most of the information on the existing Tennessee web server
so that we can move forward while we are still developing the new system.
Items that have been added or updated include:Added: Links to PDF Format SQTRs with signature blocks

The Wing Management Utility is a web based system that provides many
utilities to augment the capability of the NHQ E-services site. Most of the
information accessible through WMU comes from the NHQ database and most
updates to WMU information are synchronized with NHQ on a nightly schedule.
WMU provides reports and utilities that are useful to most of the staff
positions at squadron, region and wing level. All members of CAP can obtain
a login to manage their own information. Additional access is granted based
on duty position. The Incident Management Utility is a standalone program that runs on windows
systems. It is a comprehensive tool for managing incidents and the required
paperwork. In our tests of the system we have seen that it can greatly
speed up the check-in process, assist in managing resources, help maintain
situational awareness, allow better coordination between staff members who
are in separate areas and reduce the effort of record keeping by the ICP
staff.IMU is a powerful system but the price of that power is a fairly steep
learning curve. It is our intention to use IMU at the upcoming Vigilant
Guard exercise. In the weeks leading up to Vigilant Guard we will be
holding several training sessions for ICs and other ICP staff positions.I encourage anyone who participates as mission staff and regularly brings a
laptop to the mission to download the software and try it out. Those of you
with experience using IMU please help the folks in your unit. Please be
careful when experimenting with IMU to avoid inadvertently uploading sorties
to WIMRS.Monday 4/14/2008 we will be conducting a mock exercise at the TN-087
squadron meeting at 19:00. ICP staff in the area are welcome to come and
participate. We will walk through a mission from start to finish. In order to facilitate fast check-in at mission base I am asking all members
of the Tennessee wing to log into WMU and update their Emergency Contact
info. Instructions are available on the Wing Web page (tnwg.cap.gov).Flight Release Officers need to log into WMU and create a PIN number for use
during IMU run missions. Instructions are posted for that process also.Training for the transition to using IMU for running missions will involve a
great deal of time and effort but I believe that the rewards will be worth
it.
Thank you all for your continued patience and your assistance with our
efforts in moving forward with these changes. -R-
